‘Umeed Ke Sitare’: Paras Health Celebrates Stories of Courage Beyond Cancer

New Delhi [India], May 19: Some battles leave scars that are invisible to the world. Battles fought quietly in hospital rooms, through sleepless nights, difficult treatments, and endless uncertainty. Yet, for many cancer survivors, those scars also become symbols of strength, resilience, and hope.

Honouring these extraordinary journeys, Paras Health organised its flagship initiative ‘Umeed Ke Sitare’ in Gurugram, Haryana, bringing together cancer survivors, doctors, caregivers, and healthcare teams in an emotional celebration of healing and humanity.

The initiative, conceptualised as an extension of Paras Health’s ongoing Umeed Ke Sitare campaign, was created to celebrate survivors who have overcome immense physical and emotional challenges while also recognising the support systems that stood beside them throughout their fight against cancer.

The event became a powerful reminder that cancer treatment is not only about medicine, surgeries, or therapies. It is equally about compassion, encouragement, emotional strength, and the courage to keep moving forward even in the darkest moments.

Survivors shared deeply personal experiences of fear, pain, resilience, and recovery, inspiring others who may still be navigating their own journeys. Families and caregivers were also acknowledged for their unwavering support, often becoming the emotional backbone patients rely upon during treatment.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Dharminder Nagar said that while medical science continues to advance rapidly, healthcare institutions must never lose sight of the human side of healing.

He stated that the future of oncology lies in precision-based diagnosis and personalised treatment, but equally important is ensuring that every patient feels seen, heard, and cared for throughout the journey.

According to him, Paras Health has built an integrated oncology ecosystem with expertise across surgical, medical, and radiation oncology. However, beyond clinical excellence, the institution remains committed to helping patients regain confidence, dignity, and optimism after treatment.

The Group Chief Operating Officer, Paras Health Mr. Vineet Aggarwal “As the cancer burden continues to grow across India, healthcare systems must evolve beyond conventional treatment models and build patient-centric ecosystems that combine clinical excellence with compassionate continuity of care. Today, oncology care is not only about treating disease; it is equally about enabling patients and survivors to navigate one of the most challenging phases of their lives with confidence, support, and dignity.

As cancer cases continue to rise across India, the initiative also highlighted the growing need for awareness around early detection, multidisciplinary treatment approaches, and stronger rehabilitation support for survivors.

More importantly, Umeed Ke Sitare reinforced a message that many patients and families need to hear that cancer may change lives, but with the right support, it does not take away hope.

Through campaigns like these, Paras Health is not only strengthening holistic cancer care but also building a community where survivors are celebrated, stories are heard, and hope continues to shine brighter than fear.
